Welcome to the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center, the premier location for competitive swimming. Located right next to the Swimming Hall of Fame, the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center has been a staple in South Florida since its opening in 1965. The facility has just finished major renovations, opening its doors on September 12, 2022, now featuring state of the art equipment from its pump room to timing console. The Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center is the place to be for any competitive/recreational swimming, aquatic training opportunities, practicing and/or learning lifesaving skills, and anything for an aquatic environment.

Winter 2024/2025
- 2024/2025 winter schedule begins December 1, 2024.
- 2024/2025 winter schedule ends February 28, 2025.
- Winter team training camps will begin December 14, 2024, and go till January 2025. Lap swim lanes will be limited.
- No public springboard diving December 15, 2024 through January 12, 2025
- Saturday is busiest day of the week, plan accordingly and be prepared to share lanes as needed.

- November 11th (Veterans Day: Pool open 8 AM - 12PM
- November 16th - 17th: Pool closed due to SFTL Masters Swim Meet
- November 28th: Facility closed for Thanksgiving Day
- November 29th: Holiday hours 8am - 12pm for Day after Thanksgiving
- December 15th: No public springboard diving due to International Winter Diving Festival
- December 24th: Holiday hours 8am - 12pm for Christmas eve
- December 25th: Facility closed for Christmas Day
2025
- January 2nd through 4th: Pool closed due to winter team training
- January 20th: Holiday hours 8am - 12pm for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Dive tower platform levels 5M - 27M require safety certification and specialized training. For those that are interested in going higher, contact the Fort Lauderdale Diving Team.

Recreation Lifeguard I
Starting Salary: $17.35 Hourly
Job Requirements
- Possess a valid American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid certificate, or equivalent, prior to appointment
- All required certifications, whether possessed at time of application or
obtained after appointment, must be kept current to continue employment in this class - Must be able to successfully pass a performance test which includes
simulated pool rescues. This test must be successfully passed every six (6) months after employment - A valid Florida driver license may be required
- Higher starting salary may be offered based on experience and qualifications

Lifeguard Courses
Blended Lifeguard Course
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding (including deep water) with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid course is designed for those wishing to gain lifesaving skills and prepare you to work as a professional lifeguard at aquatic facilities (pools 7 feet deep or deeper). The course covers water rescues, surveillance, professional lifeguarding, spinal management, CPR/AED, and first aid skills. This will be a blended learning course, including an online portion (approximately six hours of online work) that needs to be completed before the first day of the course. Online material will be emailed once registered.

Lifeguard Recertification Course
The lifeguard review is for those who have a current American Red Cross lifeguarding certification and wish to extend it for another two years.

Water Safety Instructor Course
This course will certify people to be an American Red Cross swim instructor, encompassing both safety and skills to educate those wishing to learn or advance their swimming. This
course allows those who pass to teach parent and child aquatics, preschool aquatics, learn-to-swim, safety courses, and water presentations. Participants wanting to register must pass pre-test prior to registering. Please contact (954) 828-5211 for more information.
Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 16 years of age and able to swim 25 yards of the following: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke. Participants must also be able to swim at least 15 yards of Butterfly, float on back for one minute in deep water, and tread water for one minute.
